Iran Lauds India's Stand Against 'Biased' UNHRC Resolution

It’s not every day you see a public "thank you" note in the world of high-stakes diplomacy, but that is essentially what Iran just sent to India.

The Iranian Ambassador to India, Iraj Elahi, has publicly expressed his gratitude to New Delhi. The reason? India voted against a recent UNHRC resolution that targeted Iran—a move Tehran describes as completely unfair.

What did the Ambassador say?

Elahi didn’t hold back. He labeled the resolution as:

Unjust

Politically Motivated

Constructed on "hollow" grounds

He argued that the resolution wasn't actually about fixing human rights issues, but rather about using international mechanisms to bully specific nations.

A Friend in Need

By standing against the resolution, India showed that it values its long-standing relationship with Tehran. It’s a bold move that highlights India's independent thinking on the world stage. While other nations fell in line, India looked at the resolution, decided it was biased, and voted accordingly.

For Tehran, this support is crucial. It shows them that despite heavy Western sanctions and pressure, they aren't entirely alone in the room.
